July is a CRAZY busy month at the library!!

Hello all, and Happy Summer!

Hope you're all enjoying your summer, so far.  July is, by far, our biggest and busiest programming month of the year, and to that end, we want to make sure you're aware of several wonderful events that are happening over the next couple of weeks, a couple of which were not included in our Summer Programming flyer that went out to the Andover Elementary School kids.  There's a long list, but we hope you'll be sure to read on...

Wednesday, July 13th -- 3PM:  Living Dragons with Brian Kleinman of Riverside Reptiles.  This program is sponsored by the
Andover Friends of the Library.

Thursday, July 14th -- 7PM:  Our Connecticut Authors Trail contribution for 2016 will be a visit with Connecticut native, Lauren Acampora, who will speak about her highly-acclaimed debut collection of linked stories, The Wonder Garden.  Ms. Acampora will sign copies of her book post-book talk, so make plans to be here!
**ADDED**  Thursday, July 21st -- 7PM:  Justin Mazz Magic Show!  This magical evening of FREE entertainment will be held at the Andover Town Hall Community Room, 17 School Road, Andover.  Somehow or other, we did not get this program into our final Summer Programming flyer for 2016, but we hope to see you at the Community Room on July 21st ~ along with several of your friends and neighbors!  Kindly share info about this magic show with folks you know.  Thanks!

Monday, July 18th -- 5:30PM:  Chess For Beginners!  This is a new program we're trying out, and is being sponsored by the Andover Friends of the Library.  However, if we do not have enough participants signed up by July 14th, we may have to cancel.  Please sign up TODAY:  860-742-7428.

Monday, July 25th -- 1PM:  Flip-Cam Filmmaking!  This is also a new program we're trying out, and the program is being sponsored by the Andover Friends of the Library.  Again, we NEED to know that there will be participants, so sign up as soon as possible:  860-742-7428.

Thursday, July 28th -- 6:30PM:  The Hot Flashes in concert at the Andover Gazebo!  This free concert is sponsored by the Andover Friends of the Library, and is the 9th time we've presented a FREE summer concert for the community in Andover!  Grab your chair and blanket and be there!  (In the event of rain, the show will be held in the Andover Town Hall Community Room).

**ADDED** Sunday, July 31st -- 4PM to 7PM:  Friends' fundraiser at Subway on Route 6, Andover!  For the third year in a row, the Friends will become Subway sandwich makers for three hours, and for their efforts, a percentage of the profits will go directly back to the Library Friends!  Help 'em raise a lot of money during those three hours, won't you?

We would LOVE for you to be part of as many of these activities as you possibly can!  Call the library if you have questions:  860-742-7428.

We would also very much appreciate you sharing this email with these many events with as many friends as you can.  The more, the merrier!

Thanks again, and enjoy July!!

100 book discussions and counting at Andover PL!

Book #1
Book #102
It has been a while since we updated our Andover PL blog, but tonight, it seems that we are celebrating a momentous occasion at the library -- of sorts, anyway! Initially, we thought that tonight our group would be discussing the 100th book we've read together.  However, it turns out we miscounted, and tonight, we're actually reading our 101st book!  Beginning in April 2003, this group met quarterly, but over the years, we've adopted a more consistent schedule, expanding from quarterly to bimonthly to 8-10 times a year to monthly in 2016!  We hope you'll consider joining us for a future discussion.
