Discussing "My Antonia" on May 9th...

Take Two Tandem - Wednesday, February 23rd

On Wednesday, February 23, 2011, the Andover Public Library will present a program featuring the TAKE TWO TANDEM storytellers. Anne-Marie Forer and Cindy Killavey captivate audiences with stories, music, and movement. Anne-Marie might even play a variety of instruments, including fiddle, guitar, and banjo.

Join us at the library for this FREE program on Wednesday, February 23rd at 6PM. Snow date is Wednesday, March 2nd at 6PM.

As of last September 11th, the library is once again open every Saturday from 10AM-4PM (in addition to our regular during-the-week hours). Stop by!

FREE Grass Routes show -- Friday, August 27th

The Andover Friends of the Library will present a concert featuring Connecticut Bluegrass band, Grass Routes on Friday, August 27th @ 6:30PM. This show will be held at the Andover Gazebo (located on School Road in front of the Andover Elementary School and adjacent to the Andover Town Hall). Bring your blankets and chairs -- if it rains, the show will be held in the community room at town hall.

Grass Routes played a show at the gazebo last August for more than 100 folks. Won't you join them this year?

Independence Day closing

In observance of Independence Day, the library will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2010. Please note that we're also closed on Saturdays in July and August.

We'll reopen on Tuesday, July 6th at 3PM.

Book discussion with the author -- "Tell Me When It Hurts"

Join us this Monday, June 28th at 6:30PM as we welcome Andover's own Christine Whitehead back to the library to discuss her first novel, Tell Me When It Hurts.

Memorial Day closings

In observance of Memorial Day, the Andover Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2010 as well as Saturday, May 29, 2010. We'll reopen on Tuesday, June 1st at 3PM.

Revisiting Huck...

The next book to be discussed at the Andover Public Library will be The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. After reading The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer at our April discussion as part of the Hartford Region's BIG READ 2010, those who participated in our meeting thought it would be enjoyable to catch up with Huck Finn, as well. We'll meet on Monday, May 24th at 6:30PM. If you need a copy of the book, check at the circulation desk. Join us!

Friends' auction a big success...

Thanks to everyone who donated an item, baked a cookie or other goody, purchased a 50/50 ticket, a baked good, or some pizza, or successfully bid on an item at last Friday's Friends of the Library's annual fundraising auction. The totals have been added, and it looks like the Friends made a total of $2,750! At their annual meeting coming up on May 17th, the group will decide how to spend the money. We'll keep you posted on how that goes...

Big Friends' fundraiser...this Friday, 4/30...

Be sure to support the Andover Friends of the Library's annual GOODS & SERVICES AUCTION. It happens this Friday, April 30th at the Andover Elementary School Cafeteria beginning at 6:30PM (preview starts at 6PM). Each year, this Friends' fundraiser raises money to support the library's purchases of things like museum passes, books on CD, DVDs, and a whole lot more. Won't you consider stopping by? You may even find an amazing bargain...and you'll feel good about your purchase, too.
